Ring in World Tourism Day with a stay at Skyview by Empyrean, pioneers of green mobility in India!

21/09/2023

National, 21st September 2023: This year, the theme of UNWTO’s World Tourism Day is ‘Tourism and green investment’. Skyview by Empyrean, a mountain harbour spread across 22-acres in Patnitop’s Sanget valley, Jammu, has pioneered green mobility in India by building the Skyview Gondola, aka the ‘green gondola’.

With the ultimate goal to save Planet Earth, Skyview by Empyrean has been doing its bit towards helping India draw closer to achieving at least a few of the United Nation’s

17 Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

The Skyview Gondola pioneered environment-friendly mobility in India with this ‘green gondola’ built in 2019.  For the environment-conscious travellers who want to make a difference to the world by choosing to enjoy only sustainable tourism experiences, Skyview by Empyrean is the destination for them!

Here’s why:

– Skyview by Empyrean is the first Responsible Tourism Society of India-certified sustainable tourism destination compliant with all the parameters of Sustainable & Responsible Tourism practiced by Responsible Tourism Society of India and set as a standard by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

— The Skyview ropeway is net zero. Not a single tree was damaged or cut while putting in place the infrastructure for this gondola. On the contrary, more than 8,000 saplings of trees, along with shrubs and flowers were planted during construction.

— The flora and fauna of the region were left untouched while constructing the 2.8 km-long stretch over the Shivalik Himalayn range. The height of all the towers was raised with the fifth tower being one of Asia’s highest at 60 meters!

— The Skyview Gondola is the highest CEN-Certified Ropeway in Asia in terms of ground clearance. The ropeway covers a 30-45 minutes/ 26 km road journey between Sanget and Patnitop in just 10 minutes! This has considerably reduced dependence on fossil fuels, encouraging travellers to minimise the carbon footprint and enjoy a shorter and cleaner getaway to Patnitop.

— The infrastructure of the Skyview Gondola is state-of-the art and world class. All the towers, ropes, and cabins have been imported from France through the company’s technology partner, POMA, renowned as the world’s leading brand in gondola transportation.

The property’s sustainable architectural design promotes rainwater harvesting. The use of bio-degradable cutlery and a paper-free digitalized menu further create a healthy environment for guests at the mountain sanctuary that seamlessly merges premium hospitality, adventure, nature, and luxury!
