Goa, 21st July 2022- Goa’s favourite Indian fine-dining restaurant Jamavar, will be witnessing a burst of culinary flavours at the pop-up by Chef Sherry Mehta: Riwaayat-e-Multan. Guests will be privy to the lost recipes from the state of southern Punjab and parts of north-eastern Sindh, dishes which they would have never tried before.
The inspiration for Kanak by Sherry was drawn from Chef Sherry’s grandparents’ home in Punjab. Chef Sherry states “Contrary to popular belief, Punjabi cuisine goes way beyond the Tandoori chicken and Daal Makhni, there are regions of Punjab which are hardly known and are equally as rich in their culinary heritage. Region of Multan is one such hidden gem which India has not known much about. The cuisine from Multani aka Saraiki cuisine takes heavy influences from the region of Khyber and Sindh. Dishes like Multani Sajji, Katlambe, Doli wali roti and Moth Kachori are hardly known and have been kept hidden from the rest of the world. With this festival, we intend to bring forth these hidden flavours to the Indian table and introduce the beauties of this cuisine to the country in our first ever Multani popup in India.”.
“We are thrilled to partner with Chef Sherry Mehta and introduce our guests to her signature dishes known for not only their outstanding flavours and creativity, but also for their presentation. Chef Sherry’s culinary expertise is further testament to our dedication for providing the best to our guests at our specialty restaurant Jamavar”, said Amit Malhotra, EAM – Food & Beverage, The Leela Goa.
