Savour Traditional Ugadi Delicacies at Southern Spice, Taj Coromandel

Ugadi, the first day of the New Year is ushered in with great joy and celebrations, complete with flowers & Mango leaves festoons, colourful rangolis and a traditional Ugadi feast! At the award-winning Southern Spice, the country’s most iconic South Indian specialty restaurant at Taj Coromandel, the team of chefs led by Executive Chef Sujan Mukherjee promises the most-memorable culinary experiences with a traditional Ugadi meal.

The guests can relish customary refreshments like Neer MorPanakam, and Kambu Koozh. The menu is dotted with traditional vegetarian dishes Ugadi Pachadi (Neem buds, Jaggery, Green chili, Salt, Tamarind Juice and raw mango); Allam Pachadi Roll Pesarattu (Savory and crispy crepes made with moong lentils, spices and herbs); Rasa Kaya (Seasonal vegetables cooked in a Cilantro and coconut curry); Bendakaya Thalimpu (Okra slice tempered with homemade pounded coconut and spice);and Gongura Senagalu Curry (Seasonal vegetables cooked with ginger, Gongura leaf).

Non vegetarians can delight in Sigdi Meen Barthad Fry (Crispy fried bay prawn tail); Rayalaseema Mamsam Vepudu (Succulent lamb shoulder meat, cooked gently with spices, a popular dish from Andhra); Nellore Chappa Pulusu (King fish cooked in a Tamarind   and Garlic curry); Kori Gassi (Chicken morsels cooked in byadgi chilly, coconut and cilantro); and Gongura Mamsum (Tender lamb morsels with ginger, Gongura leaf).

Round off the meal with the delicious Saggubiyyam & Semiya Payasam (Sago, Vermicelli & milk confection); Pootharekulu (Sweet wrapped in a wafer thin rice starch layer, stuffed with sugar, dry fruits & Nuts); and the homemade Coffee Ice Cream.
