Shangri-La Bengaluru Joins Hands with Iksha Foundation for a Noble Cause this Independence Day

(Bengaluru, 16th August 2023) This Independence Day, Shangri-La Bengaluru joined hands with the Iksha Foundation in a heart-warming partnership to organize a meaningful celebration through a cake-cutting ceremony and a 'Cake-For-A-Cause' sale. In line with their worldwide vision and mission, Shangri-La Bengaluru will be donating the proceeds from the sale of the cake, an amount of INR 175,300 to Iksha Foundation that works for the welfare of children suffering from eye cancer.

Distinguished personalities, families from the foundation, and the hotel's dedicated employees came together to partake in the celebration of the momentous event at the lobby, exemplifying a shared commitment to children's well-being.

“Our foremost goal is to ensure that our guests relish this occasion as much as we do, as it symbolizes a moment for families to come together in a spirit of patriotism. Amidst the celebratory atmosphere, Shangri-La Bengaluru remains unwavering in its dedication to offering children afflicted by eye cancer an opportunity to break free from their hardships. The heartfelt appreciation extends to our gracious guests, whose remarkable benevolence has yet again elevated this event, making it both impactful and unforgettable.”

Andreas Streiber, General Manager, Shangri-La Bengaluru

Thanmaya Bekkalale of Iksha Foundation said, “It brings us immense joy to carry forward this enduring tradition alongside Shangri-La Bengaluru. Each year, we witness the hotel's staff and its esteemed guests uniting to extend their wholehearted support to our mission through

generous donations and the invaluable dissemination of awareness about this crucial cause. We eagerly anticipate the ongoing partnership with the hotel, as we collectively strive to make a lasting impact."

Initiated in 2016, the annual endeavour commenced with the creation and sale of a splendid 70-foot-long cake. The proceeds were contributed to the Iksha Foundation, enabling the treatment and recovery of children from blindness caused by eye cancer and continued in 2017 and 2018, aiding five more children. These combined efforts have treated children over the years, showcasing an unwavering commitment. Baking for a cause is now an annual tradition at Shangri-La Bengaluru.
