Shef’s Kitchen: Women who toil away in kitchens, carving out their own niche

03/03/2020

When we celebrate women, we celebrate them as society — a society striving to meet its full potential without any prejudices. Women, today are speaking out, being heard, and taking over. The collective solidarity of women is conquering the world and there is no stopping them.

While more could still be done to promote better gender representation, what the F&B industry has achieved so far deserves to be celebrated. We come from a culture where it’s perfectly normal for women to be in charge in the kitchen at home but with the increasing rise in Indian female chefs all over the world, we are sure making a new norm.

In line with the Accor’s RiiSE philosophy which believes in gender equality and diversity; Novotel Bengaluru Outer Ring Road has made tangible progress in maintaining a healthy ratio of both, women and men working together as a team. With a quest to empower their female chefs further, an all-women run kitchen was formed in November 2019 for the Blue Terrain restaurant at Novotel Bengaluru Outer Ring Road.

For this initiative, the team came up with a simple yet unforgettable name – Shefs Kitchen, a name which combines the word ‘She + Chef’. They bring with them grace and finesse and embody the finest skills in order to reinvent fantastic dining experiences for their guests!  A new wave of flavours has rolled in at Blue Terrain and is set to continue.

This women’s day, Accor would like to celebrate such women who are walking an extra mile to uplift and empower the entire community. We would be happy to connect you with our Shefs at Blue Terrain restaurant at Novotel Bengaluru Outer Ring Road to narrate their story.
