Impresario Handmade Restaurants launches the 28th outpost of its iconic brand SOCIAL at Indiranagar

A neighbourhood where hipsters and homebodies co-exist, Indiranagar stands out as an area where cool meets comfy seamlessly. Rows of stunning bungalows and ‘home sweet homes’ bring out the liveliness of a community that rubs shoulders with great cafes and bars. Indiranagar attracts the attention of millennials for all the right reasons, so it was only natural that Bangalore’s fifth SOCIAL would find a new home here.

SOCIAL is known for creating spaces that epitomize its core values of community and creativity via unique and affordable F&B offerings, community-centric events and gigs, collaborative workspaces, and a culture that fosters serendipitous connections.

Says Riyaaz Amlani, CEO & MD, Impresario Handmade Restaurants, “SOCIAL has a unique identity as a place where people come together to #eat, #drnk, #work, and #play. We couldn’t help but think that Indiranagar would be the best place to launch our 28th outpost in the country, and our fifth in Bangalore. A home within a home, Indiranagar residents will love their very own SOCIAL because no one throws a party like a #SOCIALHouseParty! The vibe is easy yet elegant, so it’s going to become that place where you catch up with old friends and also make new ones.”

Unlike the area’s modern hotspots, this new outpost is housed in a repurposed bungalow and is a chic throwback to the 70s: a tribute to the suave and sophisticated style of an era that redefined fashion, gave us the soundtracks of our lives, and pretty much redefined popular culture.

The design team has stripped down the house to take it back to its origins in true SOCIAL style, with minimum intervention and maximum upcycling. Each room embraces what it was always meant to be – be it a bright and plant-filled living room, a comfortably functional study, or a room for entertaining with a beautifully stocked bar. Each room in this three-storey house has a story that’s waiting to be heard.

Inspired by the mid-century modern aesthetic, the design elements at the new SOCIAL are fused with the persona of a mysterious owner who inhabited the house in the ‘70s. Legend has it that he moved into the neighbourhood in the dead of the night. Who he was or where he came from, nobody knew. What was known though was the size of his whisky peg and that he knew how to turn some seriously great vinyls. A ‘secret door’ led to a hush hush party room that only a few really saw the inside of.

A classic, understated look with clean lines and minimal ornamentation, Indiranagar SOCIAL stands out from the crowd. The style is modelled around the juxtaposition of different and sometimes contrasting materials with the usage of rich and luxurious colours like green and orange with a balance of muted flooring and carpets. Calming shades of brown inspire you to put on some Chet Baker while your partner pours some whiskey sours for you and your friends.

“Indiranagar SOCIAL is a representation of quintessential bungalow living with gardens all around. The outpost has a casual setting on the lower levels that is welcoming, giving patrons a dining, living, and library space. The second floor is almost like a movie set from different eras as you explore the many rooms. These can be occupied for private parties and exclusive ‘invite only’ events as well. All in all, the outpost combines old-world charm and new-age class with a SOCIAL twist!”, says Sunitha Kondur, Partner, Hundredhands, the agency behind the interiors.

On the F&B front, Indiranagar SOCIAL offers all-day breakfast alongside the iconic SOCIAL breakfast
trays, kebab platters, munchies, signature tandoori pizzas, and biryanis. SOCIAL always adapts its menus to the city it occupies, so some special features include a ‘Local Heroes’ section full of South Indian favourites with a uniquely SOCIAL twist. These include
the Thalaiva Breakfast tray, Anna’s Pepper Roast Momos, Nethli Tacos, Chicken Ghee Roast Masala, and much more.

“Expected to be a major crowd-puller is ‘A Bar Has No Name’, SOCIAL’s first ever Speakeasy-inspired
bar on the first floor of the bungalow. Giving patrons an experience that’s unlike any other outpost, the secret room will have its own bar whipping up unique and premium cocktails. With Indiranagar SOCIAL, we wanted to create a sub-community in the neighbourhood
and be different from our other outlets in Bangalore. A hip vibe in a great neighbourhood, this outpost is unlike anything the city has experienced yet,” says Mayank Bhatt, Business Head, SOCIAL.

With a little history and a whole lot of mystery, #SocialHouseParty is an experience you don’t want to miss.
