Soothe your eyes with 100 types of roses at Rashtrapati Bhavan

Every year in the month of February, the Mughal Gardens in the backyard of the Rashtrapati Bhavan remains open for the local tourists to explore. The garden has an ample number of beautiful flowers which are soothing to the eyes. This lawn was designed by British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. The garden boasts 10,000 Tulip bulbs, 70 varieties of 5000 seasonal flowers and over 100 types of roses. This year the limelight is expected to be taken by Grace de Monaco Rose which was planted by Prince Albert II of Monaco in 2019. 

There are a lot of roses in the garden which are given names after some famous personalities in India. Few of them are Mother Teresa, former US President John F Kennedy, former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru etc. the other roses have unique names like Double Delight, First Prize etc. apart from roses, there are other species as well such as hyacinth, bulbous, lilies and tulips. The garden has the style of both the Mughal as well as the British era.
