The Expansion Plans Of Oudh 1590 & Chapter 2

Platter Hospitality Pvt Ltd, which was started in the year 2013 by two brothers, Mr Shiladitya Chaudhury & Mr Debaditya Chaudhury, gifted Kolkata, the city of joy, with two of the finest themed restaurant brands, Oudh 1590 and Chapter 2.

Oudh 1590 near Deshapriya Park was the first restaurant from the group, which provided a unique and one-of-its-kind period dining experience.  Buoyed with its success in a short span of time, the duo opened more outlets of Oudh 1590 in Salt Lake, Southern Avenue & Jessore Road. The past year witnessed the opening of two new Oudh 1590 outlets, during this ongoing pandemic, in Tollygunge and Barasat. Oudh 1590 caters to the premium Awadhi restaurant of one of the premier clubs of Kolkata, The Tollygunge Club. The passion for food continues to drive the brothers to gift the Kolkatans their first-ever retro dining restaurant, Chapter 2, at Mani Square Mall in 2016. The newest outlet of Chapter 2 has opened its door, in March 2021, at Southern Avenue. Both the brothers found it prudent enough to invest and expand during the pandemic to capitalise on the readily available and low-cost properties.

Each of the standalone Oudh 1590’s is an architectural marvel, recreating the essence of the old world Lucknow or Awadh, as it was known then, in every corner. The murals, the floor tiles, the chandeliers, the dining table or the bronze-plated crockery and cutlery resemble the grandeur of the era. With an expansion plan in place, Oudh 1590 will open two more outlets in the city by this year-end, of which the work for one outlet has already started. Starting from 2022, the brand will make its presence felt in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore markets.

Chapter 2 is a one-of-its-kind culinary destination of Kolkata. Chapter 2 has rekindled the memories of Anglo Indian Food & Live Music culture, for which Blue Fox and Skyroom at Park Street was globally famous, with its décor, ambience and of course, food. Chapter 2 offers a vast and choicest of menu recreating the lost glory that Kolkata was proud of. A retro décor has been created with murals of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe & Michael Jackson to complement the mood. The music played is strictly from the 50s-90s. Plans are afoot to open 2 new outlets of Chapter 2 in Kolkata by 2022.

Nowadays, a restaurant is not just about the food but equally important are the architecture, ambience, music, service and the overall comfort level it provides to its patrons. Theme restaurants are now in vogue and people are now more experimental about it than before. From getting a fashion designer on board to design the stewards’ costume to a national award-winning celebrity architect to design the restaurant, the Chaudhury brothers, as they are lovingly referred to, took themed restaurants to another level which guests simply enjoy time and again. Each outlet takes significant time in setting up as the whole idea is to create an ambience that reflects the bygone era.

With Platter Outdoors starting operations in March 2020, the group has ventured into the much-in-demand catering segment.
