More than 35,000 people attended the carnival in 3 days
New Delhi, January 29, 2019: Zomato opened its doors to Zomaland on Friday, January 18 and after three days of unlimited entertainment, a funfair-like atmosphere, and most importantly, better food for more people, the first edition of the event has concluded on a high note.
Zomaland catered to every palate - the food zone segregation made it convenient for people to find the food of their choice. While each zone was buzzing as visitors were spoilt for choice, the dessert district was a delight for one and all. Besides the obvious love for food, Carnival City stood out to be the most treasured zone. It witnessed the presence of visitors from every age group, equally enjoying the collection of carnival games and became a major addition to the carnival theme. What’s more, Zomaland offered a special zone for the kids designed for their comfort, and palette.
Commenting on the overwhelming response, Gaurav Gupta, COO, Zomato, said, “The turnout was incredible and over 35,000 walked through our gates and experienced what Zomaland was all about. Food enthusiasts loved the wonderful set up at the curated Food Zones, claimed a bunch of prizes playing games at the Carnival City. And, of course, didn’t witness a single dull moment with all day live performances at Theatre Bizarre and Live Arena.”
Zomaland marked Zomato’s entry into the space of large-scale experiential events. The larger-than-life food and entertainment carnival brought together some of the top chefs and eateries from across Delhi- NCR with a stellar line-up of music performances by Lucky Ali, Rohan Joshi, Outlandish, Varun Thakur, Ritviz, When Chai Met Toast, to name a few. Visitors relished food from Delhi’s favourite eateries under one roof designed in 7 curated zones- Flavours of India, Oriental Trail, American Avenue, European Eateries, Mexican Mania and Dessert District and a Healthy Hub.
“Zomaland, New Delhi, was the result of months of hard work, dedication, brainstorming and food-sampling to create a mixed itinerary of eateries, fun activities and performances for everyone to enjoy. We are extremely delighted with the response and the overall vibe has been nothing short of fantastic as our users enjoyed the carnival as much as we enjoyed bringing it to them. We are very excited to bring the same joy to all our users in Pune and Bangalore” added Chaitanya Mathur, Global Head, Zomato Live.
Besides the overwhelming response to the carnival, Zomaland has also seen tremendous participation from the restaurant community. It served as a great platform for them to showcase their culinary prowess and reach a larger audience base.
“Zomaland as a carnival was very successful in pulling a wide audience, especially families, who had a great time. We have some of the best food in the world in India, and carnivals such as this one will go a long way in supporting the culinary atmosphere in our country,” said Rakshay Dhariwal, Managing Director, Pass Code Hospitality.
"We came all the way from Raipur to participate in Zomaland. Thousands of people thronged the carnival and showed their love for food. Our 30 cm long fries and the chocolate fries were the star sellers, with long queues waiting to taste our specialty. It was a well-organized event that had something for everyone and we enjoyed being a part of it." added Manish Shadija, Founder, World of Fries.
"Zomaland was one of its kind experience and we were glad to be a part of it. The grand carnival gave us a huge platform to reach out to a large number of food lovers in the city. We launched our meal bowl at the event which received an overwhelming response, and we look forward to such exciting events by Zomato" commented Jitin Mittal, founder, Orient Heritage.
