24/03/2021

The Mamalla Sthalika at WelcomHotel Kences is recreated as an ode to Mamallapuram a sea port town, named after the Pallava King Narasimhavarman popularly known as Mamallan meaning a Great Wrestler, for his strength and technique in Indian mud wrestling. The meal experience is hence befitting the appetite of a Wrestler with a variety of offerings in one platter.

The large bronze Thali expresses within itself the humble tradition of “Virundhu”; Intrinsic to Tamil Nadu, where in Guest is God and food served is with much ado of pomp and pleasure with varied famed specialties of the house.

The set menu is seasonally rotational and cyclic; offering the best of Locavore specialities, primarily fresh catch from the Sea, and classical veg specialities of Tamil Nadu. Karuvepillai Yera (Fresh coastal shrimp pan tossed in a creamy succulent coconut cream and curry leaves) Mammallapuram Roast Fish (Local Fishermen’s Fish Roast) Keerai cutlet (Spinach cutlet) Vadai mundri kolambu (Chickpea dumplings in coconut gravy) Kavanarasi-Karupatti payasam (Native black rice pudding) are some of the preparations that form part of our Sthalika to give you a glimpse into seafood rich local cuisine.
