Pune, January 2024: The Ritz-Carlton, Pune is set to unveil a unique culinary experience, hosting the acclaimed Mumbai restaurant, Ekaa, for an exclusive three- day pop up event from 17th -19th January, 2024. This unique collaboration presents a golden opportunity for Pune’s patrons to savor a preview of Ekaa’s upcoming Tasting 5.0 menu before its official launch in Mumbai.

Ukiyo the modern Japanese restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Pune will host an exclusive preview where Chef Niyati Rao and the talented team of Ekaa will be curating a menu paying homage to the Royal Empires of the World. They unveil 9 tantalizing courses providing a sneak peek into the culinary treasures. Ekaa’s culinary journey has always been a testament to crafting exceptional dining experiences, and their latest menu, Tasting 5.0, promises a narrative unlike any other.

What sets this collaboration apart is the meticulous effort to ensure that the menu at Ukiyo seamlessly complements Ekaa’s culinary philosophy, drawing inspiration from various cultures. This harmonious fusion aims to transcend cultural boundaries and offer a truly exceptional dining experience, where each element tells a unique story.

The menu showcases a remarkable diversity through two standout courses, providing a captivating journey through a tapestry of global flavors. Patrons can experience the exquisite hand-pounded Hana Bira mochi, a cherished ancient sweet from Japan that was once savored by emperors. This is complemented by Ekaa's innovative interpretation of Wagashi, a venture into traditional Japanese confectionery enhanced with hyper-seasonal ingredients such as persimmon and a white bean filling. The delightful combination is best enjoyed alongside a cup of green tea.

Ekaa’s Tasting 5.0 transcends the ordinary menu; it is an immersive journey delving into the bygone eras of royal kitchens, reviving the essence of culinary marvels from diverse global empires. Some of the exquisite dishes include a Scandinavian course, inspired by the Viking Empire, featuring a sugar-based pickle of green strawberries, paying homage to their foraging lifestyle. The culinary journey continues with a tribute to the Qing Empire of China, showcasing the art of extracting rich flavors in broths using ingredients like goji berries and sabudana. Additional delights include dishes from Maratha Samrajya, Travancore Dynasty (Travancore), Tsar Empire (Tsar) Egyptian Kingdom, Aztec Kingdom, and Kingdom of Siam, each offering a unique taste of royal heritage.
