Mumbai, 28 January’19: With an uninterrupted, panoramic view of the lake, Renaissance Mumbai takes advantage of their location by hosting some of the most exquisite buffets in the city at their brand new contemporary restaurant, Lake View Café. This season join them as they celebrate the culinary heritage of the Aarey Forest where they will be exhibiting the food and culture of the Warli tribes that live in the green lung of Mumbai, Aarey Milk Colony. Aarey Forest, which is located in Goregaon East, a suburb in Mumbai, houses nearly 10,000 tribals in 27 Padas or hamlets that are spread over 28 km in the colony. Together they host around 1027 households, majority of which are tribal families.

This festival will be comprising of the signature dishes of Aarey like sweet steamed modaks, thetcha and zavla or dried shrimp, sukka mutton, bhujing kombada, bhareli Vangi ( stuffed brinjals) cooked by the Tribal Tadka Women of Aarey of the WWH Tribal Lunch fame. The excitement doesn’t stop here, these women will also exhibit their products, handicrafts & artifacts at a flea market, set on the patio of the cheery neighborhood café.

This is one of our most indigenous events yet, as our expert chefs have collaborated with the culinary artists of Aarey to prepare a delectable spread filled with native flavor.
