Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) Prahlad Singh Patel will visit the newest Union Territory of India i.e. Ladakh next month to explore new ways to boost tourism in it. This will be the Minister’s maiden visit to Ladakh since the scrapping of Article 370 by Indian Parliament last week. Minister said: “Ladakh is a very peaceful, clean and it is a hub of cultural heritage and it can be developed at a faster pace”. Ladakh is also known as the adventure capital of the country and it is the destination that has the top three highest mountain passes in the world. The place has very strong links with Buddhism and Tibetan culture.
Talking about Ladakh, the minister said the central government will work with the local administration to improve public utilities and infrastructure such as creating more accommodation, better transport facilities and better medical facilities.
The Minister also added that: “We will take local people into confidence while deciding what exactly needs to be done here so that again more tourists start visiting the place”. The tourists from all around the globe visit here will start flocking to Kashmir once the normalcy and peace is been restored in the valley after the scrapping of Article 370 by Indian Parliament last week.
According to Tourism Minister, The adopt-a-heritage scheme under the public-private partnership has been very effective and successful so far and the central government of India is planning to add at least 3 to 4 more monuments under the adopt-a-heritage scheme and the names of these monuments will be announced on the occasion of World Tourism Day on September 27 this year.
