Akasa Air marks strong presence at WINGS India; showcases its first purpose-built aircraft at India’s flagship airshow

Akasa Air showcased its first purpose-built Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 at WINGS India 2026, featuring innovative seating and enhanced comfort for modern travelers.

National, 28th January 2026: Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline participated in WINGS India 2026, India’s flagship civil aviation event, with a strong presence spanning industry discussions, a dedicated exhibition stall, and the display of its first purpose-built aircraft at the trade show.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft on display is the first aircraft purpose-built to Akasa’s specifications, equipped with Safran Z200 seats, a next-generation seating solution designed to elevate the in-flight experience. The aircraft’s seats feature a generous 4-inch recline, an ergonomically contoured backrest, and enhanced cushioning for superior sitting comfort, alongside thoughtfully positioned additional conveniences such as USB-C and USB-A ports to support the needs of today’s hyper-connected travellers.

As part of the conference programme, Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO, Akasa Air, participated in the Global CEO’s Forum and the Airlines Panel, that brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and global stakeholders to deliberate on the growth of air connectivity, emerging trends, and the evolving role of airlines in supporting India’s economic and tourism development. 

Priya Mehra, Chief of Governance & Strategic Acquisitions, Akasa Air, participated in the Aircraft Leasing and Financing panel alongside senior leaders from global leasing firms, manufacturers, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies, contributing to a high-level discussion on global best practices and the evolving aircraft leasing ecosystem.

At the event, Akasa Air was also formally presented with its International Air Transport Association (IATA) membership certificate by Sheldon Hee, Regional Vice President, Asia-Pacific.
