May 2025: Reaffirming the city’s commitment to meeting the highest international standards for environmental quality and beach management, all 13 beaches in Tel Aviv have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag for 2025. The International Blue Flag Committee has officially approved Tel Aviv-Yafo’s application for the coming year, maintaining the Blue Flag status for all 13 declared beaches in the city.

The Blue Flag is an internationally recognized eco-label awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to beaches and marinas that meet and uphold a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria. Certification is reassessed annually to ensure ongoing compliance and excellence.

This continued recognition underscores Tel Aviv-Yafo’s dedication to sustainable coastal practices. The municipality remains committed to reducing single-use plastics at its beaches. Awareness campaigns, supported by signage, remind visitors of the city’s bylaw banning disposable plastic bags and utensils at bathing beaches.

The Blue Flag program is implemented In Israel by EcoOcean, a nonprofit organization composed of scientists and environmentalists. EcoOcean is the official representative of FEE in Israel and administers both the Blue Flag and Young Reporters for the Environment programs nationwide.

Tel Aviv is proud to once again be recognized as a model for excellence in coastal management and environmental stewardship.
