Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, New Delhi, is set to host the 16th India International Hotel, Travel & Tourism Research Conference (IIHTTRC-2026) on 26th and 27th February 2026 in hybrid mode. Centered on the theme, “Healing Horizons: Integrating Spiritual Tourism & Indian Hospitality for Global Peace,” the conference aims to highlight how India’s spiritual heritage and hospitality traditions can contribute to fostering peace, sustainability, and holistic well-being worldwide.
The conference will bring together eminent researchers, academicians, and industry professionals from across the globe to deliberate on the evolving role of spiritual tourism as a catalyst for global harmony. Recent research reflects the growing integration of digital technologies, sustainability, and community participation in enhancing the spiritual tourism experience. Digital marketing tools such as social media engagement, virtual experiences, and destination branding are enabling spiritual destinations to reach global audiences while preserving their cultural authenticity. At the same time, technology-enabled hospitality solutions, including personalized chat-bots and digital guest services, are improving accessibility, enhancing guest satisfaction, and supporting seamless travel experiences.

As spiritual tourism deeply rooted in India’s timeless spiritual values, studies of pilgrimage and eco-spiritual destinations in regions such as Dharamshala, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand demonstrated how spiritual principles of simplicity, environmental responsibility, and mindful living are supporting sustainable tourism development. Sacred sites such as the Buddha Temple at Dalai Hills exemplify how spiritual environments foster peace, reflection, and inner balance. Indian hospitality, guided by the ethos of Atithi Devo Bhava (The Guest is God), further enhances these experiences by emphasizing compassion, ethical service, and inclusivity, creating meaningful and transformative journeys for global travelers.

Other Research work has also demonstrated that Spiritual tourism is community empowered, particularly through women-led entrepreneurship. Women-run homestays, wellness centres, and spiritual tourism initiatives are contributing to inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and economic sustainability. Experiential offerings such as yoga retreats and meditation programmes are also gaining prominence for their role in promoting mental wellness, spiritual rejuvenation, and holistic health.
IIHTTRC-2026 will serve as a vibrant academic platform featuring keynote sessions, research paper presentations, and panel discussions that will explore emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in spiritual tourism and hospitality. The conference aims to encourage meaningful dialogue, inspire research-driven solutions, and strengthen collaborations among academia, industry, and policymakers.
Through IIHTTRC-2026, BCIHMCT reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and research leadership. The conference seeks to demonstrate how the integration of India’s spiritual wisdom, sustainable practices, and technological innovation can help shape a more peaceful, inclusive, and responsible global tourism future—truly reflecting the spirit of “Healing Horizons” for global peace and harmony.
