Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte stated, “For hinterland tourism, we are currently focusing on developing infrastructure. We are working towards ensuring that accommodation options align with the growing demand for adventure, wellness, and experiential tourism. To achieve this, we are preparing to attract strategic investments in Goa's hinterland areas that can offer high-quality stays for discerning travellers. Culturally rooted properties will play a key role in elevating high-end tourism in the state.” He further emphasised that the government is working collaboratively with industry stakeholders, hoteliers, airlines, OTT platforms, and tour operators, to create curated packages that appeal to diverse tourist segments. The convergence of efforts is expected to yield better travel experiences and ensure higher visitor spending.

In the first six months of 2025 alone, Goa recorded over 54 lakh high end tourist arrivals, a testament to the state’s resilience and appeal as a year-round destination. The Minister noted that over the past two years, both domestic and international travel to Goa has witnessed consistent growth, solidifying the market’s revival. Department-led cultural festivals such as Chikhal Kalo, Sao Joao, Deepotsav, Shiv Jayanti and more have played a vital role in enriching the visitor experience and showcasing Goa’s living traditions. These curated events not only attract cultural enthusiasts but also position Goa as a destination where heritage and modern tourism co-exist.

The Department is also looking forward to an increase in international footfalls in the coming months, with new charter flights and operators entering the Goa circuit. The importance of attracting quality tourists who seek wellness, adventure, and meaningful travel experiences are part of the state’s broader vision, and efforts are underway to identify and encourage responsible tourism models that align with regenerative tourism principles.
