  • Growth driven by sustainable innovation, strong community linkages, and bold development plans

All India, 21st July 2025: Jamaica’s tourism industry continues to show strong and steady growth, with the destination recording 2.3 million visitor arrivals and earning USD 2.4 billion in tourism revenue between January and June 2025. The figures were shared by Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, during the recently concluded ‘Christmas in July’ trade show in Kingston, which celebrated local entrepreneurship and inclusive tourism development.

The data marks a promising trajectory for Jamaica’s tourism rebound and reflects the island’s enduring appeal as a top Caribbean destination for global travellers, including the growing Indian market. Based on current trends, Jamaica is expected to surpass 3 million stopover arrivals by year-end.

Innovative Developments on the Horizon

Jamaica is also gearing up for the Caribbean’s tallest hotel and its first Tourism Innovation Township in Montego Bay. Anchored by a 33-storey Moon Palace resort, the township will integrate over 5,000 hotel rooms, supported by social infrastructure such as a STEM school, supermarkets, healthcare, and community services. Set to operate on a circular economy model, the township will generate and manage its own electricity and water supply, while promoting locally produced goods for the hospitality sector.

Additional developments—including new Sandals and AC Marriott properties—are expected to bring more than 10,000 hotel rooms to Montego Bay by 2030, reinforcing Jamaica’s positioning as a progressive, investment-friendly tourism destination.

Celebrating Local Entrepreneurship: Christmas in July

Now in its 11th edition, the Christmas in July initiative—held at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel—hosted 180 Jamaican producers, including 106 first-time participants. Products featured included aromatherapy, fashion, food, and artisanal crafts designed for hospitality, cruise retail, and corporate gifting. The initiative, supported by the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), has generated over $135 million in sales since inception, while also helping Jamaican products reach global markets.

Minister Bartlett reiterated the importance of deeper community involvement in the tourism economy, stating: “Every handcrafted product on display represents one of the pillars in the journey to link tourism to the prosperity of all Jamaicans.”

The programme is part of Jamaica’s larger Tourism Linkages Network and plays a key role in building a more resilient, self-sustaining tourism model—one that also opens doors for collaboration with Indian travel trade and buyers.
