- Chief Minister assures complete support for revival of tourism in the state
A 30 member strong IATO delegation led by Ravi Gosain, President, IATO met Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah today in Sirnagar. At the meet, the CM thanked the delegation for the initiative and assured the delegation of the safety, security of the tourists and urged the delegate to spread in their fraternity the word that Kashmir is safe to travel. During the meeting, Mrs. Yasha Mudgal, Commissioner cum Secretary Tourism and Mr. Raja Yaqoob Farooq, Director Tourism – Kashmir were also present and assured full support from J & K Tourism Department.
The delegation meeting is part of “Three day 14-17 June Rubaroo Jammu & Kashmir campaign by IATO – under which the members toured various parts of Pahalgam and Srinagar and found the valley peaceful and people welcoming. According to Ravi Gosain, “ It was important to assess the ground situation and during our three days stay we found the state as safe as any other place. Besides, we have assurances from the highest echelons of the government and that gives us all huge confidence and I am sure tourist flow to the state would be back to normal in times to come.”
“Post Pahalgam incident there were scores of cancellations faced by IATO members both by domestic and foreign tourists. Obviously the sentiment was hit but it is important to restore confidence and revive tourism. The visit is a step in this direction and we are completely satisfied with safety arrangements made by the government” adds Gosain.
IATO also took the opportunity to invite the Hon’ble Chief Minister for the 40th IATO Annual Convention to be held in Puri, Odisha in August 2025 as this would give an opportunity for him to meet 1000 -1200 delegates from all over the country. The CM in principle accepted IATO’s invitation and assured that Jammu & Kashmir Tourism would join with a strong delegation. IATO Convention is scheduled to be held in Puri, Odisha from 22nd 25th August 2025.
