Bhubaneswar, Odisha – February 16, 2026 – The Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) successfully concluded its IndiaSkills 2026 4 Regional Competitions for hospitality skills. The event, held from 2nd to 14th February 2026 at C V Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, brought together the nation's most promising young talent to compete across five core hospitality disciplines.

Organized across four zones—south, west, east and north, —the competitions served as a crucial milestone in the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) flagship IndiaSkills 2025–26 programme. Over the two-week event, competitors demonstrated exceptional prowess in Bakery, Cooking, Restaurant Services, Patisserie & Confectionery, and Hotel Reception.

The participants qualifying for these regional finals had successfully navigated a rigorous multi-stage selection process. Their merit and performance determined their place at the regional level, representing their respective states:

·South region: had 35 competitors from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry

·West region: had 28 competitors from the States of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan

·East region: had 40 competitors from the States of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Daman and Diu & Dadra Nagar Haveli

·North region: had 53 competitors from the States of Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh

The winners from the 5 Skills – Hotel Reception, Restaurant Service, Cooking, Bakery, Patisserie & Confectionery in the regional competition will now advance to the next stage of a structured training and national-level competition, with the ultimate goal of earning the honour of representing India on the global stage in Shanghai, China.

The achievements at these regional competitions build on India's growing reputation in the global skills arena. India’s consistent performance at WorldSkills highlights the rising strength and global competitiveness of the nation's hospitality sector.

Reflecting on the successful conclusion of the event, Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO, Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council, stated:

A great career is built on a solid foundation, and this event has provided just that—a platform where passion meets precision. Our participants have not only showcased their skills but have also absorbed modern techniques and global standards, proving they understand the critical value of getting the basics right while pushing the boundaries of innovation.

This platform has once again fulfilled its purpose: to bring due recognition to talented individuals from every corner of the country—faces that will one day bring smiles to diners around the world. As this chapter ends, a new one begins for our winners. They will now carry forward the lessons learned here, moving one step closer to setting new benchmarks for the Indian hospitality industry on the global stage."

The primary objective of the IndiaSkills Hospitality Competitions to identify high-potential talent and nurture them through structured training and expert mentorship from a panel of specialists drawn from leading colleges, academies, and the hospitality industry. The top three winners in each skill category from these regional competitions will now undergo advanced training and compete in two additional physical trials. From these, one finalist per skill will be selected for the final national team to represent India at WorldSkills Shanghai, China.

Over the course of the competition, participants were rigorously evaluated by a distinguished jury of industry experts, ensuring a transparent and globally benchmarked assessment process that celebrated technical expertise, creativity, and service excellence.
