(Mumbai, October 17, 2025) – Vietjet, a Vietnamese airline founded and run by a woman, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to sustainable development and gender equality at the 2025 Women in Aviation International-Singapore Chapter (WAI-SG) Gala Dinner. As India becomes an increasingly important part of Vietjet’s expanding international network, the airline remains committed to promoting diversity and inclusion as key pillars of its responsible growth and global connectivity strategy.
Ms. Ho Ngoc Yen Phuong, Member of the Board of Directors, Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer of Vietjet, highlighted the airline’s continuous efforts to create equal opportunities for women across all areas of the aviation sector — not only in the cockpit, but also in technical, operational, and financial roles.
“We don’t just talk about gender equality — we live it. At Vietjet, we believe that empowering women is essential to achieving long-term, sustainable growth,” she said.
Founded by Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Southeast Asia’s first self-made female billionaire, Vietjet stands as a symbol of women’s leadership and empowerment in aviation. According to the airline’s 2024 ESG Report, female employees make up nearly 40% of Vietjet’s total workforce, with 30% of leadership roles held by women — among the highest ratios in the region.
Vietjet has significantly strengthened its presence in India, now operating direct flights that connects Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kochi to Vietnam’s most popular destinations including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. The airline also offers convenient connections for Indian travellers to Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, and other destinations across Asia-Pacific via Vietnam.
Held under the theme “Pioneering the Sky’s Future,” WAI-SG’s Gala Dinner celebrates initiatives that empower and connect the next generation of female leaders who are shaping a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable aviation industry. The event was graced by Ms. Sun Xueling, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Transport and National Development, along with more than 300 global aviation leaders and experts.
