Madrid, October 2025 – Visit Buenos Aires took part in Madrid’s Hispanic Week, presenting the latest tourism statistics and trends of Argentina’s capital. The event was held on the 7th of October at Club Monteverdi, a cultural venue in Madrid, and led by Valentín Díaz Gilligan, President of the Buenos Aires Tourism Board and Visit Buenos Aires. Among the authorities present were the city’s Deputy Mayor, Clara Muzzio, and the Minister of Economic Development, Hernán Lombardi. Representatives from Buenos Aires’ business sector also attended, including members of the city’s Hotel, Restaurant, Confectionery and Café Association (AHRCC), the Buenos Aires branch of the Argentine Hotel Association (AHT), and the City Travel Agencies Association (AVIABUE).

The event combined valuable market insights with the latest tourism developments for the upcoming season, reaffirming Buenos Aires not only as Latin America’s cultural capital but also as a destination offering immersive experiences through its gastronomy, vibrant arts scene, and diverse neighbourhoods.

Guests enjoyed an exclusive tango performance, one of the city’s most iconic cultural expressions, which added a distinctive touch to the evening and reinforced Buenos Aires’ identity as the birthplace of this sensual dance.The programme also provided opportunities for direct interaction with representatives from the city, strengthening business relationships and exploring new avenues of collaboration between Spain and Buenos Aires.

Market Trends and Key Figures:
  • Growth in Spanish visitors: Between January and August 2025, 77,000 Spanish tourists visited Buenos Aires, a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
  • European leadership: Spain accounts for 30% of all European tourists visiting Buenos Aires, ahead of Italy (16%).
  • Record arrivals: In 2024, Buenos Aires welcomed 112,000 Spanish tourists, an 8% increase compared to 2023.
  • Travel motivations: The main reason for travel among Spanish visitors is to visit family and friends (68%), followed by holidays and leisure (24%).
  • Air connectivity: Between January and August 2025, there were 3,024 flights between Buenos Aires and Spain, representing a 13% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Seat availability reached around 963,000, with an average occupancy rate of 92%.
These indicators confirm the significance of the Spanish market for Buenos Aires, which remains one of the top long-haul destinations in South America for European travellers.
