14/07/2018

Having your favourite food delivered to your home has just become easier with Uber Eats launching its services in the city from Friday.

Uber Eats is the food delivery app by Uber, which is present in 18 cities in India and more than 220 cities worldwide. It will be the first food delivery platform in Guwahati.

Uber Eats is an on-demand food delivery network, powered by the technology behind Uber. It partners with popular local restaurants to get consumers the food they want, delivered through delivery executives on bikes at their doorstep in the least amount of time possible, according to the company.

Consumers need to open the app, enter their address, look for their favourite restaurant and place an order for an item of their choice. Real-time tracking of orders is also possible.

Uber Eats provided in-depth information on their services in response to several queries put forward by The Telegraph for the benefit of the readers.

The company sources said they conduct training sessions for every delivery partner who joins their platform. The partners are not only trained to use the app but also how to handle food from the time it is picked up from the restaurant till it reaches the consumer. Every delivery partner is also given an Uber Eats insulated backpack that is designed to maintain the temperature of the food.

About the kinds of food to be delivered, they said immediate focus is to bring the most loved restaurants serving a wide range of cuisines and items on the platform – from Indian, Chinese, pizzas to local cuisines, desserts and ice-creams. Altogether 150 of the most loved restaurants in Guwahati have been curated in the launch phase, with more to come aboard.

Uber Eats services will start off in key neighbourhoods like Six Mile including Beltola and Khanapara, Ganeshguri and surrounding areas, Paltan Bazaar, Uzan Bazaar, Fancy Bazar and Chandmari.

The service will charge Rs 10 as delivery fee in Guwahati. As a launch offer, Uber Eats is giving out a flat 50 per cent off on a minimum order value of Rs 100.
