The tourism department of West Bengal will attempt to display the new and unique face and identity of Kolkata as a hub city and the state as a tourism destination to the tourism trade in the country, while hosting 35th Annual IATO Convention in Kolkata from September 12 to September 15 in this year. IATO stands for Indian Association of Tour Operators. It is the national body of the tourism industry. West Bengal tourism will definitely try to give a glimpse of the preparation towards one of the biggest tourism property of West Bengal Tourism, DURGA PUJA to the delegates of the convention.
The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) has revealed the logo and the theme – “Is Tourism Thriving – Challenges and Opportunities”. The 35th Annual Convention of IATO will be held at Biswa Bangla Convention Center and the newly opened ITC Royal Bengal Hotel is the convention hotel.
The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) is travelling to Kolkata after a gap of 17 years for their annual convention. Principal Secretary – Tourism, Government of West Bengal, Atri Bhattacharya, speaking after the launching the logo and theme of the IATO convention in Delhi, said that the primary aim of the State Tourism is to showcase the new face of the city to the tourism trade in India. He also said that: “The city of Kolkata has changed remarkably over the last 10 years and it is much cleaner today with very fewer traffic snarls compared to the other metro cities of India.”
