Mumbai, Maharashtra –June 3, 2022 –

The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake aims to take steps towards sustainability and protecting environment through several noteworthy initiatives, through 4 key principals Recycle, Reduce, Restore and Renew.

In an endeavour to do their part for the planet some of the Recycling measures include

● Recycling of water by means of effective production from, in-house Sewage treatment plant – Water is re-used for gardening, horticulture, flushing system for washrooms, cooling water system for cooling towers and water bodies.

● Recycling of printing paper

● Recycling of used kitchen oil – Used oil is sent back to authorized vendor where used kitchen oil is used in manufacturing Bio Diesel.

● Used Lead acid batteries are sent back to authorized vendors for recycling

● Wet garbage is being recycled by the “Organic Waste composter” to produce compost – this compost is being used as manure for the gardens/green areas within the property.

Reduction is an equally vital aspect and includes

● Reduction of Water consumption by installation of new flush system, and wash basin aerator in toilets.

● Creating awareness in team for reducing water consumption at all possible area.

● Promoting sustainable construction and refurbishment

● Promoting reduction, reuse and recycling of waste

● Working with suppliers and contractors through a sustainable procurement strategy to improve sustainability performance

Their focus is to Restore nature’s many miracles through numerous initiatives that involve

● Tree Plantation

● Plant distribution to associates

● Free Pollution check of vehicles for associates

● Earth Hour celebrations

● Blood donation camp

● EV Charging zones - We have installed duel adopter EV charging station in hotel which have 2 no’s 30 KW DC fast charger. These fast chargers can provide 100% charging in just 40-60 min only.

● And even a quiz competition on Environment held team

The final step is to Renew by conscious energy saving and control that involves

● Installation of motion sensors in restrooms & staircases.

● Monitoring gas and electricity consumption on daily basis.

● Use of low energy light bulbs. - Approximate 95% of light bulbs in the property (locations such as meeting rooms, restaurants, guest rooms, external lighting, and lobbies) have been replaced with energy reducing LED bulbs.

● Re-use towels on guest request.

● By using latest technology energy saving HVAC chillers and plant room optimization.

● Installed of low approach cooling towers.
