The Capital of Israel is all set to surprise the travellers and tourists this year by its seven undeniable events. Starting from the Jerusalem Marathon set against the backdrop of the city’s amazing views to the trendy Open Restaurants Festival which brings the people from all over the globe to indulge in the Jerusalem’s melting pot of flavours. The city of Jerusalem is a holy city in the Middle East which is located on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. The city of Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world and it is also considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions. Here are the seven undeniable events to experience in Jerusalem in 2020.

1. The Jerusalem Marathon

The 2020 Jerusalem Marathon will be held at 10:30 am – 4:30 pm on 20^th March 2020. Celebrating the 10^th anniversary of Jerusalem Marathon, it offers thousands of professional and fond runners to take part in it and it is one of the most challenging marathons in the world. The marathon is famed for its hilly terrain and magnificent views soaked with history, the Jerusalem Marathon will test each participant’s stride to descend on the ancient city whilst bringing their families, supporters and communities to watch the sporting event. There are six different running tracks which combine all the unique and amazing landscaped and regions of the city. These running tracks are built respectively for runners with different abilities and difficulty levels. 

2. Jerusalem Festival of Lights

Jerusalem’s Festival of Lights is all set to return in its twelfth edition this year as the inspiring event merges light installments, art and live music performances amidst the amazing old city of Jerusalem. Visitors from all around the globe are warmly welcomed into a celebration of art and culture with the chance to roam and explore the ancient alleys in a new light taking in the interactive light installments. Jerusalem’s festival of Light gives a sensory experience to get lost in a visual wonderland to their visitors from all around the globe and the festival of lights also attracts a quarter of a million people, artists and performers from Israel as well as all around the globe. The expected date and timing of Jerusalem’s Festival of Light is June 01 – June 30 2020, 20:00 – 03:00. 

3. The GFNY

The world-wide Gran Fondo events takes place in over 20 countries all around the globe and now it is set to return to Israel’s capital Jerusalem for a third time this spring. Basically, Gran Fondo is a unique type of long-distance road cycling ride, which was originated in Italy in the year of 1970. The Gran Fondo event of Jerusalem is on 3^rd April 2020, which invites both professional and fond cyclists from all over the globe to compete in the extreme field race through the Judean Mountains and the historic & amazing landmarks of the city. The participants will find two different tracks to choose from according to their skills, Media Fondo is a 70 kilometers short track while the Gran Fondo is a 130 kilometers long track. 

4. Jerusalem Film Festival

The Jerusalem Film Festival is an international film festival which is held annually in Jerusalem, Israel. The establishment of this festival was done in the year of 1984 by the director of the Jerusalem Cinematheque and Israeli Film Archive, Lia Van Leer. In 2020, the Jerusalem Film Festival is celebrating its 37^th anniversary and the dates of the festival are from 16 July 2020 to 26 July 2020. The Jerusalem Film Festival is a 10-day cinematic event which screens more than 200 films, reflecting the best from the past year from light-hearted comedies to thought-provoking human rights motion pictures. 

5. Jerusalem Open Restaurants Festival

The Jerusalem Open Restaurants Festival is the country’s coolest urban culinary festival, open restaurants, is making Aliyah to our beautiful and extremely delicious city of Jerusalem for the fourth year in a row. In November 2020, the Jerusalem Open Restaurants Festival will return for the fifth time to showcase the city’s unique culinary scene in the historical city. The festival will offer all the visitors from all around the globe a taste of the unique Middle Eastern kitchen. The Jerusalem Open Restaurants Festival is expected to held from November 19-23, 2020 and the timing are from 16:00 – 23:00. 

Visitors from all around the globe can roam and explore the streets of Historical city of Jerusalem and they can enjoy the architecture, culture and exotic food of the city. Chefs and Culinary Experts from all around the world mix with crowd to feature discuss and indulge in the international mix of exotic flavours, which includes traditional local cuisine, carefully crafted Middle Eastern cuisine and vegan Indian cuisine. 

6. Jerusalem Open House Event 

The annual Jerusalem Open House event is expected to take place in October this year.
