The celebrations were in line with this year’s theme “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights” which believes in realizing women’s rights to create a gender-equal world.

The health of women in our society is of particular concern because they are disadvantaged by discrimination rooted in sociocultural factors. The slogan Healthy Women, Healthy World embodies the fact that as custodians of family health, women play a critical role in maintaining the health and well-being of their communities.

To celebrate women and raise awareness on health, on 7th March, 2020, Dr. Mumtaz Khalid Ismail, Consultant Clinical Nutritionist, addressed women employees from all units of the company at KILA, Thrissur. She shared some interesting tips with audience which was much appreciated by them. The informative session was attended by over 100 employees including women and men from different units.

Expressing hers views on the session, Dr. Mumtaz Khalid Ismail explained, “I strongly advocate leading a healthy lifestyle and by making minor changes it will help you stay fit. Healthy eating habits and adequate physical activity alone can reduce the risk of diabetes by 58%, reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure by 66%, and reduce the risk of developing heart attacks and stroke by 40-60%. Unhealthy diets and physical inactivity are the leading causes of the major NCD’s (Non-Communicable Diseases).”

The employees were encouraged to take a pledge, a “WOMENS DAY PLEDGE WALL” was built on the premises as an emblem signifying the deeply embedded values of women empowerment and equality among the ethos of the company.
