GRT Hotels is investing 900 cr to open 9 new Hotels.

GRT Hotels and Resort which is headquartered in Chennai has 16 hotels in south India. They are planning to invest INR 900 crore to expand their network of hotels by opening 9 hotels in the south by 2025.

In the Radisson Bangaluru city, the company has opened its 16th hotel which is a boutique lifestyle hotel offering 90 rooms.

The promoter of GRT Hotels & Resorts is GR Thanga Maligai, which is also known as GRT one of the leading jewelers in south India. The hotels and resorts brand which come under GRT is Grand (upscale business hotel) Radisson Blu (5-star boutique hotel and resort), Great Trails (nature resorts), Regency (mid-segment business hotel) and Zibe (select service hotel), that are located in 14 cities in the South.

“We want to grow our footprint in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala, as most of our hotels are in Tamil Nadu. We plan to invest INR 900 crore to take our hotel count to 25 by 2025. Most of the INR 900 crore will come from internal accruals and 25 percent from debt. Ours is an asset-heavy business because our board has mandated us to buy land and build our own hotels,” Vikram Cotah, Chief Operating Officer, GRT Hotels & Resorts, told BusinessLine.

A Great Trails nature resort in Wayanad, Kerala will be ready to open in the third quarter of 2019. Another convention hotel will be opening in Hyderabad by 2020. Radisson Bengaluru City Center is the company’s first hotel in Bengaluru and its third Radisson hotel. The other two are Radisson Blu in Chennai and a Radisson Blue Temple Bay resort in Mamallapuram. Their main focus will be on leisure hotels as the company thinks their yields are much better.
