ABSOLUT presented Art Bar in Mumbai with Nikhil Thampi

07/03/2019

Mumbai, March 07, 2019: Celebrating years of bringing creative collaborations through art, Absolut brought its second edition of Art Bar in Mumbai. The vodka brand partnered with ace designer Nikhil Thampi for Art Bar at Famous Studio, Mumbai. With a focus on gender equality- one of Absolut’s beliefs, the designer showcased his views towards gender stereotypes through his unique installation for Art Bar. The theme ‘Absolut Balance’ for the evening encouraged a sense of liberation and celebrate gender equality.

The collaboration aimed to usher issues pertaining to gender bias that deprive women of equal voice and opportunities. On several occasions, Nikhil Thampi through the medium of his collection, has put forward a distinctive take on women’s dressing. Aligning this with the global progress on addressing the issue of gender bias, Thampi’s installation at Art Bar extricated the negative sentiment the issue holds and embody the spirit of equality loud and clear.

Commenting on the collaboration Nikhil Thampi said, “Once considered a men’s staple, structured pantsuits for women have played a pivotal role in creating my signature style. Power blazers and androgynous tailoring are unshackling fashion from gender stereotypes and this take on power dressing goes hand-in-hand with the belief that women can dominate in any field. Absolut also stands by female empowerment and believes that all genders should be treated equally, and in our collaboration at the Art Bar in Mumbai, we made sure that everything was in Absolut Balance.”

The music for the evening was curated by both male and female DJ’s, namely DJ SA and DJ Nina & Malika, thereby reiterating gender equality. To further celebrate the wave of equality there was a mix of male and female bartenders.

Over the years, Absolut has built a strong association with art and creativity by demonstrating global heritage and commencing local initiatives. Through the Art Bar collaboration, Absolut continues to drive awareness and create a clear bridge between creativity and Absolut.

Absolut’s iconic visual imagery has long been a part of the contemporary Indian culture and has helped in establishing a connect with the urban creative millennials.
