Chefs of The Ashok win big at the Young Chef Culinary Challenge 2019

Chefs of ‘The Ashok’, a flagship hotel of ITDC, made it big by winning four silver and one bronze medal at the recently concluded Young Chef Culinary Challenge 2019. The aim of this event, organized by the Indian Culinary Forum (ICF), was to keep motivating the young talent of the industry and showcase their skills on an internationally-modeled platform. The competition took place in New Delhi on 7th, 8th and 9th August.

Under the able leadership of Chef Arvind Rai, Executive Chef of ITDC’s flagship hotel, The Ashok, the five young chefs participated in the evolving space for beginners. One NIOS trainee and four 1st year apprentices in Food Production were nominated from the hotel, to participate in Young Chef Culinary Challenge 2019. All of the nominated trainees won medals under guidance of Chef Pradeep Kumar Ahirwar.

The culinary challenge witnessed various categories like main course, rice cooking etc. The chefs- Aman Sagar, Aniket, Jerard Anthony, Samar Khan and Abdul Quadir were the ones who brought the accomplishments for The Ashok in the competition. These young talents are 1st year Apprentice and NIOS Trainees at the hotel. Organized at IHE 2019 (India Hospitality Expo) in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the event saw more than 300 chefs participating and showcasing best of their skills and talent in cooking and display of culinary expertise.

Speaking of the competition Chef Arvind Rai, Executive Chef, The Ashok, also the Organizing Secretary of Indian Culinary Forum said, “The Ashok has always motivated chefs to participate in various competitions. But this time we thought of gearing up our young chefs- the trainees and 1st year students. Being a part of Indian Culinary Forum, I feel it is a great platform to pursue experience and nurture ideas for the restaurants.”
