Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan takes another initiative for empowering girls and taking care of their basic needs. Sanitation and menstrual hygiene are the core issues that most of our rural population is still unaware of. To take this cause forward, Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan has tied up with Soroptimist International – Pune Metro East – India is a club that aims to empower women and girls to make their lives better and Sarva Seva Sangh- an NGO committed to the holistic rehabilitation of children at high risk – the street and working children, children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS and children of commercially and sexually exploited women.

Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan provided menstrual hygiene to all the female children of Sarva Seva Sangh which were bought from Soroptimists International Club. Under one of their projects – Saheli Sanitary Napkins, Soroptimists International Club manufactures these sanitary pads. These pads are biodegradable and the cost of making one pad is Rs.1 and they sell it for Rs. 2. Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan bought 100 Packets of sanitary pads from them and donated them to Sarva Seva Sangh.

Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan has always believed in taking care of the community, and this time it was to offer women an affordable and safe hygienic product which was just as important as food and water.

Sanitary pads in India are very expensive; on an average a 30 pad packet ranges from INR 250 to 350. For a large section of women population in India cannot afford it, whereas Saheli Sanitary Napkins are only for INR 90 for a packet of 30 pads. This small step will not only offer them a hygienic and healthy lifestyle.
