The ranking was declared basis zone-wise Swachh Sarvekshan conducted by South Delhi Municipal Corporation

New Delhi, 12th October 2019: We are extremely delighted to announce that Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla has been ranked first amongst all the South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s Central Zone hotels.

SDMC had conducted a zone-wise Swachh Sarvekshan for all the hotels falling under its jurisdiction with an objective of inculcating a spirit of healthy competition among them to become Delhi’s cleanest hotel, in order to give impetus to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

A survey team in every zone was constituted comprising the DHO, license inspector, sanitary inspector and a junior engineer to evaluate the hotels on various parameters such as: waste segregation within the premises, waste processing facility like composting, basic cleanliness and sanitation in rooms, and separate toilet facilities for men, women and differently-abled citizens.

Ranjan Banerjee, General Manager, Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla said, “Our team at Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla is extremely delighted to receive this acknowledgement from South Delhi Municipal Corporation. IHG’s Green Engage initiative is a Bible for us to create an environment sustainable culture and contribute towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. We are also part of a special project ‘Soap for Hope’ with M/s Diversey & Doctors for Hope-a NGO for community welfare. Under this initiative, all the used soaps from the guest rooms are collected, sanitized, packaged and then distributed in the areas where people cannot afford soap. In fact, as per the IHG mandate, we are working towards replacing miniature plastic bottled amenities with bulk size dispensers in our hotel bathrooms to combat the menace of single-use plastic. “

Chander Sharma, Chief Engineer, Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla said, “In our waste to energy initiative, our Bio Methanation Plant converts the organic waste into bio-fuel which is used in our staff cafeteria and the remaining slurry is used as an excellent fertilizer for gardening purposes. We reuse the treated water from Sewage Treatment Plant for HVAC cooling towers, gardening and WC flushing. We have also partnered with government authorized vendors for E-Waste Management. We are also harnessing solar energy for water heating. “
