Harvesting Stories: A Culinary Journey Through India’s Farms

02/09/2023

In a unique gastronomic adventure that connects the community with local agriculture, 3 farms from across India will come together with an award-winning Chef, Niyati Rao, at Ekaa.

‘Farmers’ Feast’ is a culinary experience that celebrates the rich tapestry of India’s agriculture by bringing together produce from Kerehaklu – the dense tropical forests of the western ghats; Vrindavan Farms – the deciduous landscapes of Maharashtra; and Krishi Cress, from the unforgiving sub-tropical climes of the north, from outside Delhi. Chef Niyati Rao will further use the produce to curate a menu that takes the patrons on a journey through the length and breadth of India, uncovering the stories of our land, the influence of nature on our food systems, and the delicate life cycle of our country’s produce. All of this, over community-style tables, fostering a sense of community.

The menu crafted by Chef Niyati Rao of Ekaa will create a harmonious symphony to the narrative with interpreted dishes like Tartare – an extraordinary culmination of kombucha and beef, Garden – featuring Sambal and greens, Hearth – that brings 3 cultures together, Open Fire – a symphony of sour glaze and brine, among others. Each bite will be interwoven with the farmers narrating stories of their land and their produce, the landscape, the vagaries of nature, and climate change. At the heart of this experience is the opportunity to meet the passionate farmers behind the food – Pranoy Thipaiah from Kerehaklu, Achintya Anand from Krishi Cress and Gayatri Bhatia from Vrindavan Farms.

Adding a dash of creativity to the event, Ekaa’s Head Mixologist, Jishnu AJ, will craft three artisanal cocktails featuring Godawan Single Malt, and some of the farmers’ produce! Godawan, Diageo’s inaugural luxury and artisan single malt, takes inspiration from the enchanting desert landscapes of Rajasthan, where it is meticulously distilled.

The ‘Farmers’ Feast’, presented by Goya and Godawan, promises an immersive culinary journey that not only tantalises your taste buds but also deepens your connection to the origins of the food on your plate. Join us as we celebrate the beauty of local agriculture, the skill of our farmers, and the flavours of India’s diverse landscapes.
