Swiggy ropes in engineering head from Amazon

Swiggy has appointed former Amazon India engineering head Dale Vaz as its new head of engineering and data sciences. ET had reported the move in May first.

Vaz will lead the company’s technology strategy and help build Swiggy’s AI-driven platform for hyperlocal discovery and on-demand delivery. He will work on customer experience around several new initiatives, the company said in a statement. Dale will work closely with Swiggy CTO Rahul Jaimini and will report directly to CEO Sriharsha Majesty.

Vaz was with Amazon for 11 years, with his most recent role as the director of software engineering. He had also worked with Infosys for a few years before joining Amazon. Vaz holds a B.E in Computer Science from MIT, Manipal and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Swiggy has made several senior-level hires in recent months. The food tech company recently hired Vivek Sunder from P&G as its chief operating officer. It also hired its first-ever CFO Rahul Bothra in September last year.
