Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris announces new General Managers in Kerala

Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris announced new appointments at two of its hotels in Kerala. Prakash Nair has taken charge of The Gateway Hotel Marine Drive Ernakulam as General Manager.

Shobhit Kaushal moves from The Gateway Hotel Ganges Varanasi to the tropical backwaters of Kerala to lead The Gateway Hotel Janardhanpuram Varkala.

Speaking on his new role, Prakash said, “I am excited to be starting off a new innings in Kerala at The Gateway Hotel, Ernakulam. It is an absolute privilege to be able to continue to delight guests with Taj’s legacy of excellence.” Armed with a Postgraduate Diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Tourism And Hotel Management, Austria, along with a Diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Mumbai, Prakash has a keen interest in Pacology, whereby he likes to study the effect of various medicines on the human body. He is an ardent lover of Carnatic music.

“Prakash has had a long association with the Taj and has proved his mettle across roles and functions. He has successfully led teams at various locations and delivered great results. We are delighted to have him on board. Shobhit was an Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at Vivanta by Taj – President, Mumbai before moving to The Gateway Hotel Ganges Varanasi as the Resident Manager. We are sure both these appointments would help us scale up at the respective hotels in Kerala and we wish them both the very best” said Prabhat Verma, Senior Vice President – Operations (South).

Shobhit started his career with the Taj, back in 1998 as a Guest Services Supervisor at Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur. With around 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Shobhit brings a great blend of leadership experience and a dedication to service to his new role within Taj group.

Shobhit holds a Diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Kolkata. A complete family man, Shobhit loves spending time with his wife and two lovely daughters. He is an avid traveler and makes sure that every time he is on a vacation, he visits new and unexplored destinations. He is also a music buff.
