Vietjet launches new international routes; connects South Korea to Taiwan and Vietnam to Japan

New Delhi, January 14, 2020: New-age carrier Vietjet has inaugurated the very first two international services connecting Can Tho, the hub city of Mekong Delta region with Taipei and Seoul, the capital cities of Taiwan and South Korea. Following this announcement, Vietjet also announced the launch of five new routes between Vietnam and Japan.

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of People’s Committee of Can Tho City Le Quang Manh, Vietjet Managing Director Luu Duc Khanh, Vietjet Vice President Do Xuan Quang and other leaders from relating Ministries, Departments and Authorities inaugurated the direct flights from Can Tho Airport, Taipei to Seoul.

The two new services linking Can Tho with Taipei and Seoul will pave the way for locals, tourists to travel by safe, modern airway and at the same time promote the demand of tourism, trade, studying abroad, etc. thus offering more opportunities to explore attractions at the destinations. The Can Tho – Taipei route operates four return flights per week, starting from January 10, 2020. The flight departs from Can Tho at 12:40 and arrives in Taipei at 17:10. The return flight takes off from Taipei at 18:10 and lands in Can Tho at 20:55 (All in local times).  The Can Tho – Seoul (Incheon) route will operate three return flights per week starting from January 16, 2020. The flight departs from Can Tho at 16:50 and arrives in Seoul (Incheon) at 23:55. The return flight takes off from Seoul (Incheon) at 02:30 and lands in Can Tho at 06:20 (All in local times).

Following this major announcement, Vietjet announced the expansion of routes in Japan at a ceremony, which took place on the morning of January 13 within the framework of Japan – Vietnam Bilateral Tourism Promotion Conference. It welcomed more than 1,000 delegates from Japan, including officials from Japan’s National Assembly, the Japanese government and leaders from major Japanese corporations.

Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister – Vuong Dinh Hue, the Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan cum President of the Japanese-Vietnamese Parliamentary Alliance – Nikai Toshihiro, and many leaders of Vietnamese and Japanese ministries, departments, and authorities, as well as provincial and city leaders in Vietnam, witnessed the ceremony. 

Following the success of numerous routes that connect the two countries’ major cultural, economic and political centers, Vietjet’s five new routes including Hanoi, HCMC and Da Nang to Nagoya (Chubu Centrair International Airport); Hanoi to Fukuoka and Kagoshima are expected to open ticket sales and commence operations in 2020. After Tokyo and Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka are the third and fourth biggest cities in Japan respectively while Kagoshima has a large population of Vietnamese people.

Now with 10 direct routes between Hanoi, HCMC, Da Nang and Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, Vietjet proudly continues to offer travelers highly convenient travel options with suitable times and affordable ticket fares for locals and travelers alike. The new flights will also contribute to building the strategic bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Japan while also promoting more cultural and economic exchanges between people in the two countries.
